This Christmas carol, Taladh Chriosda, or “Christ’s Lullaby,” is a love song in the Scottish tradition. It is a re-telling of the Christmas story from the point of view of Mary in the form of a lullaby she sings to baby Jesus.
Jesus is the grace of God incarnate – God becoming man to do for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. And Jesus is the gift that gives us salvation as a free gift.
Do you believe everything you are told? Maybe when you are four or five. But the older you get, the more skeptical you get. At least that’s been my experience.
The Christmas Carol Sing We Now of Christmas or, as it is also known, Sing We Noel, is the crèche set to music. It tells the story of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, the angels coming to the shepherds to announce the birth of Jesus and then the shepherds coming to see Jesus for themselves.
Jesus’ story becomes our story. We are not the lead actors – he is – but we are part of the story nonetheless. Jesus was born, lived, died, rose, and ascended – this is the entire story told in Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day – in order to save us! Jesus came for us!
There is so much wealth to be found in this world. Power, gold, glory. But for me – and I pray for you – Christ is my true treasure.
